Make a Samurai Helmet Mask

Equipment:

1. A ruler. Any one will do. When you have finished using the mask you can remove the ruler

2. Thin cardboard or paper

3. Templates. Click here to download. Print these out or print a copy and photocopy as needed

4. Scissors, glue stick, sticky tape, textas and pencils

Procedure:

1. Cut out and colour in the samurai face. Scary and ferocious is good!

2. Cut out the two side parts of the helmet. Side B1 should be glued to the B1 part of the face, and side part B2 should be glued to the B2 part of the face. Glue these to the back of the face.

3. Cut out the visor and fold down the edges.

4. Cut out the helmet and glue all the A parts on the visor to the A on the helmet. This
can be a little tricky as the visor bends round. Use sticky tape if necessary.

5. Glue the visor/helmet to the top of the face on the back. Fix with sticky tape.

6. Cut out the pair of horns and glue them onto the front of your helmet in the middle (as marked by a tiny line on the helmet template).

7. Pick a symbol, colour it in and glue to the front of your helmet. These symbols are Japanese Mons, which are like a samurai family crest.

8. Tape your ruler to the back of the face.

Chi! Jin! Yu!

(We learned how to do this at The Museum of Asian Art http://www.meaa.org.uk/samuraihelmet.htm)
